The New York Jets lost their third game in a row, this time to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at home, and Aaron Rodgers was unable to make a difference. Seattle won 26-21, improving their record to 7-5, while New York slipped to 3-9, meaning the team will finish below 0.500 in 2024.

The Jets didn't score a single point in the second half, not contributing to the 14 points they scored in the first quarter. Rodgers completed 21 of his 39 passes for 185 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception, finishing with a passer rating of 73.1. This was the third straight game this year in which he has failed to reach 200 yards.

This was the fifth time Aaron Rodgers had the opportunity in 2024 to lead a drive that could yield a game-winning touchdown or field goal, and the Jets lost every time.

With the quarterback being a hot topic of discussion, interim coach Jeff Ulbrich was asked if he has thought of benching him in a postgame presser. He replied:

“Not as of today.”

When asked for more details, the coach said he would need to review Rodgers' film to make any further judgement.

Aaron Rodgers' latest loss could hasten his end with the Jets

The Jets built the roster this year with the assumption that they would be Super Bowl contenders because they had Aaron Rodgers at QB1. Instead, their 3-9 record means they have to rebuild next season.

According to The Athletic, after a few games into the year, Jets' owner Woody Johnson had suggested that the quarterback's performance, "was holding the team back."

And after several staffing and roster changes, when New York fired their coach, Robert Saleh, in October and general manager, Joe Douglas, in November, and brought him his former teammate Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, his plays haven't seen an improvement. Tyrod Taylor is on the bench and if things continue on a similar path, he might be moved up to the QB1 spot.
