Joe Burrow makes plans clear to join USA Flag Football team, wants $140,000,000 NFL star as teammate

Joe Burrow knows a thing or two about playing for it all. After reaching the Super Bowl in the 2021 season and serving as the only answer to Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, he has plenty of qualifications to take on the world. If he were to join the USA Flag Football team, expectations would be that high.

Speaking on the Pardon My Take Podcast, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow expressed an interest in doing just that.

"That’d be sick, wouldn’t it? ... I really wanna play for the flag football team. Me, Ja’Marr, Justin [Jefferson]… I think it’d be really cool."

Responding to the interviewer's declaration that the United States "can't lose the gold medal," Joe Burrow called the hypothetical outcome "embarrassing."

“Yeah, that would be embarrassing,” he said.

Of course, with the United States serving as the center of the football world, most expect the country to have the talent above all else to win an international football event. Armed with Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase, the defending champion USA team would have a Pro-Bowl level roster for the event.

That said, it would take convincing two of some of the best receivers in the country to get on board for more work and raising their chances of injury.

Of course, it is highly likely that any practical steps made by Joe Burrow to join the Olympic USA flag football team would need to come for the 2028 competition. The 2024 flag football team has already been announced, per the USA Flag Football website.

No NFL stars are participating in the 2024 flag football competition in Paris. Also, no NFL head coaches are taking part in the event, either. One quarterback for the event is Nico Casares from Coconut Grove, Florida. The other quarterback is Darrell 'Housh' Doucette out of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Here's the entire roster for the team:

  • Michael Better; RSH/C; Baltimore, Md.
  • Aamir Brown; ATH; Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Velton Brown Jr.; WR/DB; Orlando, Fla.
  • Isaiah Calhoun; DB/WR; Riverside, Calif.
  • Nico Casares; QB; Coconut Grove, Fla.
  • Mike Daniels; DB/WR; Miami Fla.
  • Laval Davis; WR/RSH; Jacksonville, Fla.
  • Darrell “Housh” Doucette; QB/C; New Orleans, La.
  • Johnluis "LuLu" Hernandez; DB/C; Miami, Fla.
  • Ja’Deion High; WR; Hereford, Texas
  • Jamie Kennedy; DB/WR; Pompano Beach, Fla.
  • Jesus Lorenzo; RSH/WR; Miami, Fla.
  • Bruce Mapp; WR/DB; Philadelphia, Pa.
  • Sean Moore; WR/RSH; Miami, Fla.
  • Michael Pardue; DB/WR; Clarksville, Tenn.
  • David Price; DB/C; Callahan, Fla.
  • Laderrick "Pablo" Smith; WR/QB; Pompano Beach, Fla.
  • Dana Taylor; DB/ATH; Dallas, Texas
  • Head Coach: Jorge Cascudo
  • Assistant Coach: Patrick Alley

Will the roster look closer to the basketball Olympics squad in 2028, featuring stars from the biggest league in the country?
