Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon didn't play in Week 3 due to an injury. Mixon suffered an ankle injury in Week 2. Through two weeks, Mixon was a focal point of the Texans offense as he rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries.
Mixon did not practice on Wednesday, which is a bad sign for his availability to play in the Houston Texans' Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The running back, who's considered week-to-week, sprained his ankle on a hit from Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards that drew a $16,883 fine from the league for an illegal hip-drop tackle.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans called it an illegal hit after the game.
"[The tackle] definitely in my mind, is considered the hip-drop," Ryans said, via ESPN. "When the defender unweights himself and then he puts all of his weight on the runner's legs, you see why they want to get the hip-drop tackle out of the game. Because it causes a lot of injuries when it happens.
"The hip-drop tackle doesn't happen much, but the percentage of injury when it does happen is very high and you saw that there with Joe and his ankle. The defender landed on his ankle."
The injury forced Mixon to miss Week 3 and likely will miss Week 4 as well.
When will Joe Mixon return?
After Week 2, Ryans said they would take it day-by-day with Mixon, who is considered week-to-week.
"We'll see on the injury," he said. "We'll evaluate Joe as we go throughout the week. Just take it day by day."
With Mixon not practicing on Wednesday, it seems unlikely he'll play in Week 4. The hope is he can return for a pivotal Week 5 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
With Mixon out of the lineup, Cam Akers is expected to get the bulk of the carries, while Dameon Pierce is likely to also return to the lineup in Week 4.
