Josh Allen gets extremely blunt on MVP candidacy after electrifying 3-TD performance against Jets

Josh Allen does not care if he becomes MVP or not; he just wants to win a Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills quarterback threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another in a 40-14 win against the New York Jets. In the process, he became the first player in the NFL to have five straight seasons with at least 40 total touchdowns.

After the game, fieldside reporter Tracy Wolfson briefed him about this performance and his chances of winning MVP. On the latter topic, the multiple-time Pro Bowler said:

"I don't really care about that."

Head coach Sean McDermott, however, had a different take, calling his signal-caller's performance a major reason he should win the MVP award.

The Bills also secured the AFC's second seed with the win. During his post-game presser, Allen seemingly revealed that, as a result, he and the rest of the starters would ride the bench for the season finale against the New England Patriots.

Tony Romo gives Josh Allen the edge in MVP race after win vs. Jets

The 2024 MVP race has been said to be a two-horse race between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, both very prolific yet efficient quarterbacks who have been thriving despite not having the best wide receiver corps. CBS analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is among the supporters of this notion, but he is giving the Bills' leader a slight edge.

During the game, he said:

"I think they're tied in my brain. I think that Josh Allen might get the edge, only because Lamar's had two. If Josh had two, you're gonna side with the guy who doesn't have one. That's just human nature in my opinion."

Later in the day, speaking on CBS Sports HQ, he said (1:39 in the video below to begin):

"I only give the edge to Josh because of the team record. And right now, that's the difference if everything's so close. They're both such a huge part of the team winning, and I feel like Josh has probably had to do a little bit more."
