Josh Allen shares how Hailee Steinfeld beat him to the proposal punch nearly flopping QB's perfect plan

Josh Allen proposed to his girlfriend, Hailee Steinfeld, on Nov. 29. On Friday, he opened up about the big day during a lighthearted Q&A featured in Steinfeld’s Beau Society newsletter.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback confessed that the day began with a moment he hadn’t anticipated and Steinfeld almost flopped his carefully planned proposal.

"The funniest thing was that we woke up and were getting ready for brunch and you jumped on the bed and said 'Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!'” Allen said.

It was certainly a curve ball for the NFL star, who was just hours away from proposing to Steinfeld.

"I replied, 'Just give me a little more time.' Little did you know I was about to propose to you…," Allen said.

Despite the NFL star trying to be calm, Allen admitted he was "nervous" about keeping the proposal a secret from Steinfeld, who is quite intuitive.

"It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you," he said. "Then multiple times throughout the day a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be."

When the time finally arrived, Allen got some clarity.

"I said I couldn’t wait any longer," he said. "I said I can’t wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please."

Looking back at the special moment, Allen shared how he was "relieved" that Steinfeld said "Yes" and "that was all that mattered" to him.

The NFL QB gushed about how it "feels unbelievable to be engaged" to Steinfeld, who is so "special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy."

During the same candid Q&A featured in her Beau Society newsletter, Josh Allen spelled out what “Hailee” Steinfeld means to him. For Allen, “Hailee” stood for “Hot, Angelic, Irresistible, Loving, Energetic, Ever-lasting Lover."

Allen and Steinfeld secretly began dating in 2023 before going Instagram official in July 2024.

Allen and Steinfeld, soon to be married, were first linked in May 2023 after rumors surfaced that the Bills QB had ended his long-term relationship with high school sweetheart Brittany Williams.

The couple went official with their romance after months of quiet outings.
