Justin Herbert has shown his talent in his four seasons in the NFL. However, for the 2024 season, the quarterback is facing a new challenge and must accept it as part of his professional life. That challenge arrived earlier this year in the form of offensive tackle, Joe Alt.

Alt was picked by the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft. His stock had been high throughout the process and many teams would have been happy to draft the 21-year-old. However, Herbert is facing issues due to Alt’s size.

Justin Herbert is tied for the tallest quarterback in the NFL right now. At 6-foot-6, the QB towers over many others on the team else, however, he falls short of Joe Alt, who is listed at 6-foot-8.

Herbert discussed the matter on NFL Network’s "NFL Now":

“We view offensive linemen as weapons”, Herbert said. "To have guys like that, especially at the right tackle position, is a mountain. He’s a tough guy even for me to see over sometimes.”

While Herbert is adapting to Alt's size, the Chargers QB is also adapting to widespread changes at the franchise, including a new head coach, new teammates and new facilities.

Justin Herbert takes in Chargers' new camp, 'The Bolt'

Justin Herbert and the Chargers will for the first time start their camp at the newly unveiled ‘The Bolt’ facility. The facility cost a reported $276 million and opened its gates to the team and fans at this year’s camp. needless to say, the team and fans love the state-of-the-art facility.

The Chargers started their training camp on July 24 and it will run until August 11. They will also be playing hosts to their cross-town rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, for two joint practice sessions on August 5 and August 11.

With the Chargers looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2023 campaign, it will be interesting to see if these widespread changes can instill a winning culture in the franchise.
