Actor Keegan-Michael Key, one-half of the well-known comedy duo of Key & Peele, has influenced the NFL and its players. One such example is a scene on the duo's show back in 2013 featuring a fictional wide receiver named Hingle McCringleberry. In the classic sketch, he demonstrated a new celebration dance, the triple thrust.

On ManningCast with Peyton and Eli Manning, Key was asked to break down the celebration by Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams. Key noted that the dance is a part of his legacy when it comes to the NFL:

"Yes. I am so happy that that is my legacy. Oh boy. That is provocative. That's four moves. That's not three, though. That seems like four. That was way, he's doing like four and he's doing a bit of a, he's doing a little circular hip situation. There's not just a full frontal thrust, you know what I mean?"

The celebratory dance was so popular that three-time All-Pro linebacker Von Miller did it when he was playing for the Denver Broncos. Needless to say, Key & Peele came through for the linebacker after getting fined for doing the celebration.

How Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele helped Von Miller

Back in Week Three of the 2015 - 2016 season, Miller and the Broncos faced the Detroit Lions, sacking quarterback Matthew Stafford. After the sack, Miller did the thrust and was subsequently fined over $11.5K for the celebration. On "The Dan Patrick Show," Keegan-Michael Key said he and Jordan Peele paid the eight-time Pro Bowler's fine:

“Jordan and I paid Von Miller’s fine because he had perfect form on the three pump."

Keegan-Michael Key said that he and Peele, in fact, made a donation to Miller’s “Von’s Vision Foundation” to equal the fine. Key added:

“He’s a good guy, Von Miller. Great form.”

Without question, Hingle McCringleberry will forever be part of the NFL, mainly because Commissioner Roger Goodell keeps fining players for the celebration.
