Kellen Moore is reportedly a candidate to become Mike McCarthy's successor according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. While the Cowboys search has just begun, Moore is in the running for the job and he could end up as their coach for the 2025 season. Some may argue that adding Moore as a newer voice could inject new life into the team and fresh eyes; however, others disagree.

During Thursday's edition of "First Take," NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith said that Moore's potential addition wouldn't fix any of the issues that defined McCarthy's tenure.

"All the complaints that everybody has about Jerry Jones, how would it be any different with Kellen Moore?" Smith said (02:08). "See, we're not talking about Deion Sanders. We're not talking about Bill Belichick. That's the difference.

"You're not going to push around Bill Belichick. ... With Kellen Moore, that's more of the same. ... Anywhere else, he's a top candidate, not Dallas."

The Cowboys moved on from McCarthy following a 49-35 record in four seasons. While most coaches get fired long before the end of their contracts, Jones let his expire.

The interest in Kellen Moore, coincidentally or not, could affect the Philadelphia Eagles' upcoming Divisional Round playoff game against the LA Rams. As the Eagles' offensive coordinator, Moore has to remain focused and hungry in the matchup, even if he might be in line for a promotion elsewhere.

He knows a promotion is far from guaranteed, the stakes for his career could not be more distracting than they are heading into the weekend. Even one wandering thought could affect a play call that could ruin a chance to win the game.

As the Dallas Cowboys owner and Eagles rival, Jerry Jones has every reason to do what he can to affect the rival's playoff chances. However, his ultimate goal is to find the future coach of his team, but if it costs the Eagles their season, it might just be a bonus.
