San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has given an update on the availability of Charles Omenihu ahead of their NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Omenihu was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence against his girlfriend, but the defensive end is still on the team's roster. Shanahan was asked about the 25-year-old's status for the game this week against the Eagles and if he would be available to play.

Given the nature of the alleged offense, it would be wise for the 49ers to simply sit him for the game. But what exactly are they going to do with Omenihu?

Shanahan said via Cam Inman, a 49ers NFL reporter:

"We’re letting the legal process take care of itself, so if he’s healthy, he’ll play this week. We’ve looked into it the last 48 hours, not only himself but other people. We don’t feel we should kick him off our team at this time."

So there you have it. If Omenihu is healthy, he will be available for the 49ers against the Eagles. A trip to the Super Bowl is on the line, and against a Philadelphia offense that can put up points at will, the 49ers will need all the help they can get.

Can Charles Omenihu's 49ers slay the Eagles?

Without a doubt, they can, but many thought that about the Dallas Cowboys against the 49ers last week and look what happened.

Given how explosive the Eagles' offense is with Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Dallas Goedert, DeVonta Smith, and Miles Sanders, having a defensive end like the 25-year-old will go a long way to curtailing them.

He has played 17 games this season (three starts) and has 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 17 quarterback hits.

That will be needed against the Eagles and going by Shanahan's comments, it is very likely we will see him take the field.
