The Los Angeles Chargers selected rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft at pick No. 34 overall.

Coming out of Georgia, McConkey was highly touted as one of the best wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft. New coach Jim Harbaugh took the chance on the talented rookie, which has paid dividends thus far for Los Angeles.

Entering Week 15, McConkey leads the Chargers in both receptions and receiving yards while being one of Justin Herbert's targets. He leads the Chargers in both categories despite missing last week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ladd McConkey missed his first career NFL game on Sunday night as he was inactive against the Kansas City Chiefs. McConkey was ruled out with a shoulder and knee injury despite making many appearances at practice last week.

As the Chargers prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend, it seems likely that McConkey will suit up Sunday.

Chargers reporter Daniel Popper posted an update that McConkey was practicing with the team today.

"Ladd McConkey is practicing today. Do not see Joey Bosa or Khalil Mack," Popper reported.

While it is still Wednesday, seeing McConkey on the field early this week is a good sign. The Chargers should have a better idea about McConkey's status for Sunday after tomorrow's practice.

Is Ladd McConkey having the best season out of all rookie wide receivers?

This year's rookie wide receiver class is deep and loaded with talent. This batch is loaded with talent in the position, from Ladd McConkey to Brian Thomas Jr. and Marvin Harrison Jr.

During the season, McConkey had 58 catches for 815 yards and four receiving touchdowns. He has four yards less than New York Giants rookie WR Malik Nabers and has 36 fewer yards than Jacksonville Jaguars rookie WR Brian Thomas Jr.

Ladd McConkey has played one less game than Thomas Jr. but one more than Nabers. Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has the fourth-most receiving yards for rookie wideouts with 655.

McConkey is on pace to have a 1,000-yard season and has lived up to his expectations coming out of Georgia thus far.
