Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy praised Lamar Jackson's exceptional play this season, highlighting the quarterback's impact on and off the field. His comments spotlight Jackson's pursuit of a third MVP award while posting numbers that rival Aaron Rodgers' prime years.
A seasoned NFL veteran, Van Noy joined the Ravens this season and witnessed Jackson's brilliance firsthand. The 27-year-old quarterback has led Baltimore to an 11-5 record while shattering records and setting new benchmarks.
During his Dec. 27 appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," Van Noy shared his take. His comments followed Jackson's masterful display in a 31-2 victory over the Houston Texans, where the quarterback scored three touchdowns.
"I mean, he's playing unreal right now," said Van Noy. I got nothing but love for LJ. It's so fun to play with a player like him. He's, I'll always say, he's one-on-one, it's crazier in person too. I don't think the TV and camera and all that does justice to how elite he is with the ball in his hand."

Lamar Jackson's 2024 campaign mirrors the greatness of Rodgers' MVP seasons. His 121.6 passer rating approaches Rodgers' 2011 NFL record of 122.5. With 3,580 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, Jackson's efficiency matches Rodgers' best years.
Lamar Jackson makes everybody play better around them
On the same platform, Van Noy also emphasized Lamar Jackson's leadership qualities and team impact.
"He's such a good dude, such a smart dude too. He makes everybody else play better around them and the way he's locked in right now," Van Noy explained.
Lamar Jackson's Christmas Day performance against the Texans showcased his dual-threat abilities. He reached a career-best speed of 21.25 mph on a 48-yard touchdown run, yet remained humble post-game:
"I was jogging ... I didn't have to do anything."
His MVP case grows stronger with each game. Former NFL star Richard Sherman backed Jackson on X (Thursday):
"Lamar Jackson has the numbers this season and should win it easily ... If he ends up with 45+ TDS and under 5 ints without an MVP I'm not sure how that is justified."
Jackson's projected season totals of 4,347 passing yards and 41 touchdowns would eclipse his previous career highs. These numbers stand tall against Rodgers' MVP seasons – particularly 2011 (4,643 yards, 45 TDs) and 2014 (4,381 yards, 38 TDs).
The race between Jackson and Bills quarterback Josh Allen remains tight. However, Jackson has a 68% completion rate and unstoppable rushing ability – which helped him surpass Michael Vick's career quarterback rushing record. This sets him apart.
