Legendary Cowboys WR delivers eyebrow-raising Super Bowl prediction on Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs

As the NFL Playoffs approach, teams are gearing up to deliver their best performances on the grandest stage of all. The Wild Card Weekend kicks off on Saturday, starting with the Los Angeles Chargers taking on the Houston Texans. Notably, two teams that will have a bye this weekend are Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs and Jared Goff's Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs and the Lions secured the No. 1 seed in their respective divisions with time to spare, granting them an additional week to rest before the Divisional Round of the playoffs. As things stand, we might see the Chiefs and Lions head to New Orleans' Caesars Superdome to compete for the Lombardi Trophy. However, one man believes the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs should not be considered the favorites to three-peat.

On FS1's "Speak," Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin outlined why Jared Goff's Lions have a better chance of going all the way.

“The best chance they [the Chiefs] had went out the window when this Super Bowl was played in New Orleans. They’re going to finish this thing in a dome. The Detroit Lions will play all the way in a dome. The best chance the Chiefs had was to get them outside. They won’t see them outside.”

Irvin was referring to Goff's impressive record while playing indoors, which has been one of the NFL's most intriguing quirks over the past few years. Heading into the 2024 season, Goff put up far more impressive numbers in indoor settings, completing 69 percent of his passes for 23 touchdowns, eight interceptions and 2,981 yards. His quarterback rating over that stretch is 104.0, lending further credence to Irvin's prediction.

Interestingly, just two weeks ago, Goff faced the Bears in rough conditions and ended up going 23-of-32 for 336 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-17 win at Soldier Field.

According to Bet MGM odds, the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs are the firm favorites, with odds of +275 and +350, respectively.
