For all the talk about Josh Allen not having top wide receivers for the Buffalo Bills this year, he still has Pro Bowl running back James Cook and they combined to devastating effect against the Miami Dolphins.

It was not an ideal situation, yet the pair made the best of what they had. It was a fourth-and-three and the Bills had elected to go for it instead of kicking a field goal. Josh Allen had to call a timeout to get the right play in and Buffalo fans would not have been happy to see them waste one right in the first quarter.

But then the quarterback reminded everyone why the Bills are a Super Bowl contender as long as he is playing. He salvaged the situation with a pass to James Cook, who did the rest. He managed to go around defenders and waltz into the endzone to take a 6-0 lead, which converted to give them a 7-0 lead.

While the running back was widely praised, there was a lot of love for Josh Allen too:

"Great read by Allen," one fan added.

Josh Allen and James Cook score for Bills after terrible Tua Tagovailoa pick for Dolphins

While Buffalo fans were happy, Dolphins fans would have been frustrated with how this touchdown would have been scored. The defense should have defended better on a fourth-and-three situation and not allowed Josh Allen to find James Cook in open space. They should have then tackled him and not let him waltz into the endzone.

But what would have been irritating for Miami supporters is how Buffalo got the ball in that situation in the first place. Tua Tagovailoa threw a horrific interception to hand the Bills the initiative.

However, one could not probably blame this on the quarterback as he hit the receiver in his stride only for him to lose the ball and allow the defense to take over. But it was a recurring issue for an offense that has some of the best weapons that any passer can cave.

In the first quarter, Tua Tagovailoa overthrew the ball again to have Buffalo take over after he had led a previous drive to tie the score 7-7. It is that inconsistency that has stopped the Dolphins from reaching a championship game or the Super Bowl, and that is something they need to sort out as quickly as they can.
