On Sunday, while facing the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur had a meltdown on the sidelines. The officials did not acknowledge LaFleur’s attempts to call a timeout in the second quarter. Consequently, frustrations boiled over.

LaFleur yanked his headset and received a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It complicated the situation for the Packers, who were already having a challenging day.

This led the former Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson to look back during his playing era. Offering advice about handling high-pressure situations in an appearance on the Up & Adams podcast, he said:

"You know you're gonna have ups, you're gonna have downs, but as long as you, keep just keep trusting the process, you'll be good."

Johnson praised LaFleur’s dedication and asked him to channel that spirit more productively.

"Ever since he's coming there, he's put his head down and work, but, you know, especially over the last couple weeks, just seeing a different level of consistency, of discipline, preparation, and just a fierce competitiveness ... we'll sit there we'll check in with each other on the sideline. And just make sure to just stay the course. That's my big thing to him. To stay the course, trust the process," he added.

Matt LaFleur began coaching in the NFL in 2015, with the Atlanta Falcons. After one year as the quarterbacks coach, he joined the Los Angeles Rams as offensive coordinator in 2017. Following that, he spent a year in the same job with the Titans in 2018. Following this, he was appointed head coach of the Green Bay Packers in 2019.

Matt LaFleur feels the Green Bay Packers must "earn the right" for playoff redemption against Detroit Lions

After the Packers lost to the Detroit Lions (34-31) on Thursday Night Football, it gave a blow to Matt LaFleur-led team's NFC North aspirations.

After the game, Matt LaFleur set a clear objective for the Packers. He wants his team to earn a chance to face the Detroit Lions once again in the postseason.

"Like I told our team, we have to earn the right to potentially come back here," the head coach said via Green Bay Packers' official website. "It's not going to be easy, and we have to put in the work, but I'm confident in the resiliency of our group."

The Packers dropped to 9-4 and are now third in the NFC North. Meanwhile, the Lions sit at the top of the division with a 12-1 record. Next, Green Bay will face Seattle on December 16 in Week 15 at Lumen Field.
