The Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers met in January at Levi's Stadium in the NFC Championship. The Niners earned a trip to the Super Bowl by stealing a 34-31 victory in that game with an outstanding second-half turnaround.

The Lions will return to Levi's Stadium for the penultimate game of the 2024 regular season on Monday, hoping to get revenge for that heartbreaking loss from 11 months ago. Detroit (13-2) is vying for the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs in order to gain home-field advantage and a first-round bye, while San Francisco (6-9) is no longer in the playoff race this season.

Let's examine both teams' injury reports prior to this eagerly awaited NFC matchup.

San Francisco 49ers injury report for MNF

The San Francisco 49ers have been severely shorthanded by injuries to key players this season. They currently have 16 players on the Reserve/Injured list, including running back Christian McCaffrey (PCL), wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (ACL, MCL), running back Jordan Mason (ankle) and left tackle Trent Williams (ankle).

Coach Kyle Shanahan announced after last week's game against the Miami Dolphins that offensive lineman Jaylon Moore (quad-strain) and left guard Aaron Banks (MCL injury) will not return to action this season.

On Saturday, the Niners' final injury report had four more players as out: linebacker Dre Greenlaw (calf), cornerback Charvarius Ward (personal matter), guard Spencer Burford (calf) and defensive end Robert Beal (ankle).

Starting right tackle Colton McKivitz (knee) is one of three players ruled as questionable for the game against the Lions. Safety Ji'Ayir Brown (ankle) and linebacker Tatum Bethune (knee) are the other two.

Isaac Guerendo's injury update

RB Isaac Guerendo missed last week’s game against the Dolphins because of foot and hamstring issues. However, he fully practiced on Saturday and has no injury designation for tonight's game against the Lions.

Running backs Jordan Mason (ankle), Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) and Christian McCaffrey (knee) are all on injured reserve for the Niners. This has provided an opportunity for Guerendo to be the team's RB1 until the end of the season.

Charvarius Ward's injury update

Cornerback Charvarius Ward popped up on the San Francisco 49ers' injury report on Saturday with a DNP designation. However, the team listed him with a "NIR" tag, indicating he was not battling with any injury.

Ward was initially designated as questionable for Week 17, but the team later downgraded him to out for the game against Detroit. Shanahan responded to a question about Ward on Saturday, saying there is nothing to be concerned about.

"Yeah, stuff I can’t totally share," Shanahan said. "I haven’t talked to him about it, so we’ll keep it personal. But nothing bad happened.”

Detroit Lions injury report for MNF

RB David Montgomery and WR Kalif Raymond are the only players officially ruled out by the Detroit Lions for the game against the Niners, and this didn't come as a surprise.

Montgomery is reportedly not expected to be back to action until the divisional round of the playoffs due to a knee issue.

As for Raymond, he hasn't played since Week 12 due to a foot injury. The Lions ruled him out on their final injury report despite his full week of practice so he won't be activated from injured reserve before Monday Night Football.

Linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who had a neck injury, was also designated to return from injured reserve last week. However, he has a questionable tag on the final injury report after logging three full practices.
