Jacoby Jones has been honored by the Baltimore Ravens in their first preseason game of 2024 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The wide receiver passed away in July due to, as it was later revealed, hypertensive cardiovascular disease. He played a pivotal role in the Ravens winning a Super Bowl and, accordingly, was much beloved for his sporting exploits in Baltimore.
Therefore, against the Eagles, the fans and players were given the chance to pay their respects with a moment of silence as his image popped up on the screen. On X as well, formerly known as Twitter, Ravens fans wanted to show their affection for Jacoby Jones. Here are some of the reactions from the social media platform.

Others paid their respects too but many could still not believe that Jacoby Jones had passed away at the tender age of 40. Here are some more of those heartbreaking reactions.
"It still feels weird that we're talking about Jacoby Jones in the past tense. Doesn't feel right."
"Still not believing my friend is gone. Unreal."
"It still doesn’t feel real"
Lamar Jackson and Ravens want to win Super Bowl for Jacoby Jones
Jacoby Jones played for the Texans, Chargers, and Steelers in the NFL. But it was with the Ravens that he became a legend. In 2012, he was named both to the Pro Bowl and the first-team All-Pro. He also established himself as one of the best kick returners in the game. And the San Francisco 49ers saw it firsthand as he shone during Super Bowl XLVII, returning the second-half kickoff 108 yards for a score and adding another receiving touchdown for good measure.
It remains Baltimore's last NFL Championship win and that has to be considered a disappointment after the 2023 season. Last year, Lamar Jackson was the league MVP. They were the top seed in the AFC and had beaten the Texans at home after a first-round bye.
Facing Kansas City in the AFC Championship at home, they failed to click as they were dumped out in front of their own fans. The Chiefs went on to face the 49ers, whom Baltimore had comprehensively defeated earlier in the season.
They would have always wanted to win the Super Bowl in 2024 to set that right but Jones' untimely departure makes them even more keen. As Lamar Jackson said,
"Jacoby, fly high for us, man. We're trying to bring one home. And it's gonna be in his hometown, New Orleans."
Beginning their first game of 2024 in the preseason with his face beaming upon the Ravens fans and winning it all in his hometown of New Orleans would be the perfect way for Baltimore to plan this season. Jacoby Jones could very well be their lodestar along this journey.
