A day after losing to the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints decide to fire head coach Dennis Allen. This comes after the Saints lost their seventh-straight game of the season, falling to 2-7 after winning their first two games.

Allen, who was hired to be the team's coach in 2022, lasted two-and-a-half seasons. Special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi has been named interim head coach, taking over Allen's duties.

Allen, who took over for Sean Peyton, went 18-25 in his tenure as New Orleans' head coach. In his career, he has a 26-53 overall record.

After learning the news that their team fired Allen, many Saints fans were happy. A lot of fans think that the firing is deserved and should have happened sooner. Other fans think that the roster is just bad and it wasn't really Allen's fault.

Here's how fans reacted to the firing of Dennis Allen:

"100% deserved, he’s an awful coach," one fan said.
"With a 2-7 record, it was the only move to make," one fan replied.
"9 weeks too late lol," a fan said.

While there were some replies that saw fans sticking up for Allen, most thought his firing was deserved. More fans responded with comments stating that the firing of Allen is a start of a rebuild.

The Saints at 2-7 are very likely going to be a non-playoff team and are already in cap hell heading into next season.

Here's how other fans reacted:

"Time for a fresh start! What do you think the Saints need in their next head coach to turn things around?," one fan asked.
"Big news out of New Orleans. The Saints have parted ways with head coach Dennis Allen after a tough season, per ESPN. Let’s see what direction they take next—fans are definitely hoping this change brings the spark the team needs," one fan wrote.
"This decision might indicate the team's desire to revamp its direction as they seek to return to playoff contention," a fan wrote.

NFL reporter Tom Pelissero reported that despite the Saints firing Allen, they won't be in a firesale before tomorrow's trade deadline. This comes after multiple reports of teams being interested in standout cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Pelissero wrote on X:

"While the #Saints fired Dennis Allen after a seven-game losing streak, it doesn't sound like it'll be a firesale before tomorrow's trade deadline. They have gotten calls and could move the likes of CB Marshon Lattimore. But a widespread selloff seems unlikely."

Shortly after it was reported that the New Orleans Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen, the team confirmed the news via a news release.

Saints manager Mickey Loomis said:

"Dennis has been part of our organization for many years. He is highly regarded within the NFL. He has been extremely loyal and professional and most importantly an excellent football coach for us. All of this makes today ver tough for me and our organziation. However, this decision is something that I felt we needed to make at this time."

Allen has been coaching in the NFL for over 20 seasons. He began his NFL coaching stint in 2002 with the Atlanta Falcons as a defensive quality control coordinator.

It is unclear what Allen will do next, but the Saints will now look to head in a new direction.
