Marquez Valdes-Scantling was supposed to have an important role on the Buffalo Bills' offense during the 2024 season, but the start of his life with the team hasn't gone well. He has struggled massively in camp, and some are wondering whether he'll even make the 53-man roster.

Joe Buscaglia, a Bills' beat writer from The Athletic, has noticed that the group of wide receivers could be diminished in the upcoming weeks. If the former wide receiver from the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City doesn't turn it around, he could be looking from the outside when the season starts. Buscaglia wrote:

"But as camp has gone on, there are clear signs that the top five [of the wide receiver group] may only be four, with Valdes-Scantling needing to battle his way back into it. Valdes-Scantling has faded into the background in the last few practices.
"He has yet to make a strong impression in the passing game during team drills, and his opportunities with quarterback Josh Allen and the top unit have dwindled."

Valdes-Scantling recently attracted some media after stating that he helped Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers with their individual levels. Mahomes won two Super Bowls with the receiver on the roster, while Rodgers won two MVPs.

Is Marquez Valdes-Scantling a good receiver? What was his best season?

In 2020, when Aaron Rodgers had a bounce-back season and won the third MVP of his career, he had an important role on the roster. He was the vertical threat on a team that had Davante Adams as the number-one receiver and Allen Lazard as the Z player.

While he was lucky enough to play with Rodgers and Mahomes - and now Josh Allen, he was never a dominant player, let alone someone who helped the other superstar quarterbacks win awards.

The only year where he actually had a great role on a good roster was during the pandemic year, when COVID-19 altered the entire landscape of the NFL. He amassed 690 yards and six touchdowns while helping to ease the burden on Adams.

That was his career high, so draw your own conclusions about who helped whom.
