The Green Bay Packers drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft. Following A.J. Dillon's injury, it was anticipated that the running back would serve as the team's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs.
However, Lloyd himself got hurt during the Packers' first preseason game. The former USC star suffered a hamstring injury against the Cleveland Browns and has not played since then.
The Packers will play the Philadelphia Eagles this week in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Lloyd's availability is still up in the air. Should fantasy managers be concerned about him in the long term? Here's a closer look at whether it's time to consider finding a replacement or not.

Should fantasy managers be worried about Packers RB?
Based on all the reports, MarShawn Lloyd is unlikely to miss multiple games, if any, to start the season. Although it is not confirmed whether he will play against the Eagles in Brazil, the Packers are not worried about the rookie's long-term health.
As a result, the fantasy managers should also not be concerned about Lloyd's status. He is a valuable player and is projected to be a big contributor behind Jacobs in his rookie season.
During his last year in college at USC, Lloyd rushed for 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 116 carries in 11 games. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry and has the potential to explode in a dangerous Packers offense.

Lloyd returned to the practice earlier this week. According to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, he did not suffer a setback in his recovery, and the franchise is pleased with his progress.
As mentioned earlier, it is not confirmed whether Lloyd will play against the Eagles in the Packers' season opener. Given that the game is in Brazil, the team might not rush the rookie into action and give him another week to get healthier.
The Packers face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, and Lloyd is expected to be ready to play again by then. In his absence, Emanuel Wilson is listed as the team's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers this offseason and will likely be heavily relied upon until Lloyd is back.
