Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly recently went on board to reveal a few personal details from her relationship with the LA Rams QB. Apparently, Kelly dated Stafford's backup QB in UGA (University of Georgia).

While on the Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe podcast, Kelly stated that she did that just to 'piss' Matthew off.

Fans and media personalities like Stephen A. Smith have spoken against Kelly Stafford making this information public. Many believed Kelly shouldn't have released personal information, failing to understand her reasoning behind it.

Owing to the media attention, Kelly ended up apologizing to the backup QB (Joe Cox) and his partner. She stated that Cox and the girl he actually ended up with are the couple she looked up to as inspiration for her own relationship.

"To this beautiful fam..I am sorry for the media storm that happened last week that made its way into your lives," Kelly wrote. "You had ZERO involvement in what I spoke about and in fact, it was y'alls relationship in college that I looked up to and wanted for me and Matthew. You were the couple that everyone thinks Matthew and I was.. y'all were the UGA QB and cheerleader that met and never let go. I love y'all."

During her original interview, Kelly did not reveal Joe Cox by name, only mentioning the incident in passing.

Kelly added that everything happened 16 years ago, and she wouldn't opt to change anything even today. According to the podcast host, she only addressed the issue as it affected other people.

Stephen A. Smith calls out Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly for dating backup boyfriend to "piss of QB"

On The Stephen A. Smith Show, the analyst expressed pure shock regarding Kelly's revelation. Smith questioned Kelly, wondering what advantage she must have looked for after mentioning such a sensitive topic on a podcast.

"If you are Mrs. Stafford, what could possibly make you think that it is okay for you to go home, after revealing to the public, 'I kicked it with his backup'. What possible, possible advantage could you peel from that with a husband of yours with?" Smith said.

Smith revealed that he had met Kelly, and had figured she was a 'nice lady'. However, he disapproved of her revealing this element of her personal history. While Kelly's apology was directed towards Joe Cox, Smith was seemingly more worried about the embarrassment it would cause to Matthew Stafford.
