Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is getting to the point in his career when retirement is now an option. The former first-round draft pick was just eliminated from the playoffs in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round. The question of whether he will play next season now lingers.

On Wednesday's episode of Kelly Stafford's podcast "The Morning After", she discussed her husband's current mindset. She said that their four daughters are all involved in sports and activities and that is something that the quarterback never wants to miss. She also said that if he did decide to retire, this would be a good season to do so after a playoff run.

"Family's a lot to him and I do believe that there is part of him that is ready because of the fact that the girls are getting involved in things and he does not want to miss out on that," Kelly said. "And he's given his life to football. And eventually this is going to happen no matter what. If it's not this year it could be the next year. And I think you know he had a great season if he wants to go out on that cuz that's a fu***ng proud way to go out."

Kelly Stafford said that she will support his decision whether he decides to retire or continue playing. She said that the decision has to be solely Matthew Stafford's and that she won't pressure him either way.

"When you take your team from one and four, to where they were, that is something to be extremely proud," she added. "So if he wants to be done, I'm going to fully support it. I'm going to be excited about it. I'm going to be excited, that there's a next chapter in our lives that we're going to begin.
"If he doesn't want to stop now I'm going to be excited too because I want to watch him. I would love to watch him again. But yeah that's it's going to be solely his decision. I'm not going to be the one to pressure." (34:50)

Detroit Lions drafted Matthew Stafford with the first overall pick in 2009. In March 2021, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams, where he won a Super Bowl in his first season.

Matthew Stafford's wife Kelly shared family photos of QB's final game of 2024

Kelly Stafford shared photos of her and Matthew Stafford's four daughters at Lincoln Financial Field for the NFC Divisional Round matchup. The Rams couldn't pull off the win over the Eagles in a snowy Sunday afternoon game.

The photos showed the girls all wearing matching tan puffer jackets that were embellished with "Stafford" on the hood and the Los Angeles Rams' blue and yellow color scheme.

In the caption, she added a sweet post of how proud she was of Matthew Stafford. She also said that she could never get tired of watching him play the game he loves or watching their kids enjoy it as well.

"Aren't enough words to express how proud I am. I joke about us being old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of watching you out there or watching our girls cheer for their daddy. I'm wondering if this is the end or not... guess we will find out." - Kelly Stafford wrote on Instagram

Kelly Stafford finished her post with a similar sentiment she had on her podcast, leaving the retirement decision solely to Matthew Stafford.
