A few days ago, it was announced that Las Vegas Raiders' star defensive end Maxx Crosby would miss the remainder of the season.

Crosby initially hurt his ankle in Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens and has been playing on a bum ankle all season. A few weeks ago, during the Raiders' Week 14 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Crosby reinjured the ankle. As a result of worsening of the injury, Crosby is required to have surgery on the ankle.

Crosby made an appearance on the "Let's Go!" podcast, hosted by former NFL great Tom Brady, this week and broke his silence about having a season-ending surgery.

Crosby said:

"Took a red eye last night with my wife, and we're meeting with Dr Anderson today and tomorrow. I got surgery. So, yeah, unfortunately, first Tampa got rolled up really bad.
"Say it was very similar to the first time it happened, to be honest, but this one ended up being worse, just an unfortunate circumstance. So I got a grade three high ankle sprain again, so I gotta get it fixed up. So it's been some I've been dealing with all year."

He continued:

"As much as it pains me, I obviously want to be on the field and want to be with my teammates and everything like that. It wasn't meant to be, you know what I mean? You don't have full control of everything all the time.
"And for me, I could try to hold on to that as hard as I can, but I just happen to have my cleat in the ground when a 350-pound lineman nose dive in the side of my knee."

As expected, it sounds like Maxx Crosby is disappointed that he won't be able to finish out the season on the field. After Crosby had 10+ sacks and 20+ tackles for a loss in each of the last two seasons, he ended his 2024 campaign with 7.5 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss in 12 games played.

While the Las Vegas Raiders are rebuilding, Maxx Crobsy is a cornerstone on their defense

Maxx Crosby has been with the Las Vegas/Oakland Raiders for the last six seasons. Unfortunately, he is yet to play in a playoff game as the Raiders have had a postseason drought.

The Raiders hired Antonio Pierce this offseason as their head coach and have been going through changes over the last few seasons. The Raiders failed to draft a quarterback in last year's draft to compete for the starting job this season.

Both Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell have split time at quarterback for the Raiders this season, with neither looking like the long-term answer.

Aside from rookie tight end Brock Bowers and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders offense is poor and their defense isn't much better.

However, Maxx Crosby is a star and a staple to their defense. Since entering the league in 2019, Crosby has 59.5 sacks, 105 tackles for a loss, 23 pass deflections, nine forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
