Micah Parsons' brother Terence Parsons Jr. has his own thoughts about the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise parted ways with Mike McCarthy after a disappointing 2024 season where they finished 7-10 and third in the NFC East, and are now in search of a new head coach.
Dallas has begun interviewing candidates, but Parsons Jr. hopes the new coach will switch the Cowboys to a 3-4 defense. Meaning, the team would employ three defensive linemen and four linebackers. He took to X to share his thoughts:
"Bring Micah a 3-4 defense please," Parsons Jr wrote.

The Cowboys had been using a 4-3 defense under McCarthy but Parsons Jr. is confident that his brother would thrive under the 3-4 defense. Under the 4-3 defense in 2024, Micah Parsons recorded 43 tackles, 12 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in just 13 games as his season ended due to an injury.
Parsons is in the final year of his rookie deal, as Dallas picked up the team option for a fifth year at $24,007,000 for the 2025 NFL season.
Micah Parsons wants to be a Cowboy for life
Micah Parsons spoke before the 2024 NFL season about his goal of being a Dallas Cowboys player for life. Parsons said the goal was to begin extension talks after the season as he wants to remain in Dallas for his entire career. But, he also said it was important to get a fair deal and have it done before OTAs so he doesn't have to hold out (via ESPN):
"For sure, I definitely think I need to be here in camp because honestly when so much of the defense is surrounded by your play, your presence, and others getting lined up based off of you, I need to be here so that way I can get these guys [together].
"We can rush together, build that chemistry. So I think it's extremely important that I'm back at OTAs and minicamp and all those types of things."
Parsons did say he doesn't need to be the highest-paid pass rusher, which is currently held by San Francisco defensive end Nick Bosa at $34 million per year. However, he says he knows what fair value is as he wants to remain in Dallas but also help the Cowboys build a Super Bowl contender.
Micah Parsons was selected 12th overall by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL draft. In his NFL career, he has played in 63 games recording 52.5 sacks. His contract negotiations will be a hugely important facet of the franchise's future.
