Michael Irvin's Marriott lawsuit takes big turn thanks to witness backing

NFL Combine
Michael Irvin's lawsuit against Marriott just took another turn, will this help or hurt the former NFL wide receiver's case?

Former NFL wide receiver Michael Irvin is being accused by a Marriott hotel employee of sexual harassment. He was at Renaissance Phoenix Downtown on February 5 when the apparent interaction between the two occurred, with the female employee saying that the language Irvin used was inappropriate.

Irvin has continued to state that he didn't do or say anything wrong and filed a defamation lawsuit against the Marriott chain of hotels. Now, it appears that the three witnesses that Irvin has could help him in a big way.

As the Hall of Fame wide receiver walked in, Bryn Davis, Joe Manuele, and Phil Watkins were all sitting at the hotel's "Dust Cutter" bar. They were so excited to see him that they even offered him a drink, which he declined.

However, their account of the night and potential video evidence will help Irvin's case. According to Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, the three men continued to support the wide receiver and his account of the night.

“Nothing that I saw (in recent weeks) made me think, ‘Oh, shoot, maybe I think differently now or maybe I was wrong,’’' Davis said. “Nothing like that whatsoever. It just seems more fabricated than it did when it started.”
Said Watkins: “In my opinion, he was essentially canceled until proven innocent.”

The three men said in their phone interview with The Dallas Morning News that they feel that the former Dallas Cowboys star is being 'canceled' before he even gets a chance at proving his innocence. They feel confident that video footage will help clear his name.

The Hall of Famer is suing the Marriott hotel chain, which owns Renaissance, for $100 million for defamation of character.

Does Michael Irvin still work for NFL Network?

Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin has worked for the NFL Network since 2009. During Super Bowl LVII coverage, the network abruptly took him off of the broadcast and suspended him after the accusations were made against him.

He is yet to return to the NFL Network as the lawsuit continues between him and Marriott. Some believe that the former NFL wide receiver could have a lawsuit against the network after they abruptly suspended him before he could defend himself.

Whether or not the network will allow him to return to NFL coverage or not remains to be seen as the case continues.
