Michael Vick recalls "mad crying" after Chip Kelly refused to name him starter

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick spent five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009-2013. In his last season with the Eagles, Vick headed into the season as the starter, playing in four games before suffering a hamstring injury against the New York Jets.

Backup quarterback Nick Foles played for the injured Vick and would hold onto the starting job for most of the season. When Vick was healthy and returned from his injury, he served as Foles' backup. This crushed Vick, making him cry.

On Thursday, the former four-time Pro Bowl quarterback opened up about Chip Kelly's decision to ride out with Foles for the remainder of the season on "Kickin' It With Dee."

"You talking about Chip Kelly made me cry," Vick said. "I was like, bro. I had to call him like, Bro. When What do you win? Unless he's talking lucky, unless he's talking about that time when I might have told him, I might have been like, Yo, man, bro won't give me the job. Just hit me crying last night.

Like, not crying, I'm mad, crying like, Yo, I'm, I'm playing so good, like, I'm, I'm, I'm looking I'm at a Pro Bowl caliber level right now. Like, what's the, what's the reasoning for making this decision."

Nick Foles made the most of his 10 starts during the 2013 season. He set history with the single-season record touchdown-to-interception ratio of 27-2 while earning a Pro Bowl selection.

He led the league in passer rating (119.2) and tied the NFL record for most passing touchdowns in a single game (7) against the Oakland Raiders. The Eagles would end up losing to the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the playoffs that year.

Michael Vick started six games the same season, going 2-4 as the team's starter. He threw for 1,215 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions and rushed for 306 yards and two touchdowns.

Looking back, the Eagles made the right choice to stick with Foles for the remainder of the season once Vick returned.
