When it rains, it pours. Fresh off veiled criticism by his head coach, Tom Brady now has to listen to jibes coming in from the outside as well, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers slipped to a 3-4 record. The loss to the Carolina Panthers was particularly painful.
The Buccaneers were facing NFC South division rivals. The Panthers had won only one game all season coming into this week. They were without a head coach.
Their third-choice quarterback PJ Walker started the game. There was every reason to believe this could be a blowout. That did happen, but not the way everyone expected as the Panthers trounced the Buccaneers 21-3.

Tom Brady could not lead his offense to a touchdown the entire day and finished with a measly 81.2 passer rating. It left Mike Florio distinctly unimpressed as he said that the Buccaneers quarterback is not all in on the project.
With different rules for Brady with regards to the off days he can take and not coming into certain practice sessions, Florio believes it is affecting his ability to lead the team.
"The Bucs can say whatever they want, but their QB isn't all in. And that's impacting his ability to lead. How can it not? Whenever there are two sets of rules, dysfunction follows."
He further went on to say that Tom Brady's retirement was purely a business decision and not a football decision. It was so that the Buccaneers could keep building their brand and getting fans to come to the stadium to see them play.
He also openly wondered how the gamble is paying off now with the performances this season.
"The Buccaneers agreed to whatever terms Tom Brady wanted for business reasons, not for football reasons. It's that simple. Sell the tickets, fill the stadium. We'll see how full it is on Thursday night."
Mike Florio has many theories about Tom Brady's performances this season
The above was just the latest salvo in an increasingly critical tone from Mike Florio towards Tom Brady. The NFL analyst has not liked what he has seen this season from the quarterback this far.
He has questioned the preference, in terms of leaves, that the Buccaneers quarterback seems to get over his other teammates. He has also brought up the entire Brady and Dolphins scandal that broke previously.
The analyst has speculated whether the divorce rumors are something that can be fairly brought up. He has even asked if there were any injuries that Brady was suffering from which are more severe than initially thought.
Undoubtedly, Brady has been poorer this year than some of his past seasons. But even Mike Florio must surely remember that if there is one person capable of a comeback, it is definitely Tom Brady.
He has proven analysts wrong his entire life and would relish doing it one more time. Sunday, however, was not the way to go about it if this is the plan.
