Bill Belichick is a free agent head coach as he and the New England Patriots mutually agreed to part ways following the 2023-24 season. After back-to-back seasons missing the playoffs and not winning a playoff game since Tom Brady's departure in 2019, the team made the difficult decision to move on from the legendary head coach.

With Belichick being on the open market and having no plans of retiring, he is one of if not the hottest head coach candidate. Belichick has interest from several teams and most recently interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons for their vacancy.

With Belichick gaining a lot of interest from teams, senior analyst Mike Florio questions whether Belichick is priortizing chasing another run at a Super Bowl or being paid more with more power from a struggling team.

Florio said:

"Do the money and the power at some point supersede the ability to go somewhere and feel confident? I'm going to get another Super Bowl win and I'm going to shatter Don Shula's record. What's that bounce? Only Belichick knows."
"But boy, you get Arthur Blank in a situation where he decides to give him full control and more money than we'll ever know because you know it gets paid off the books and from this company from that companies can have some Home Depot stock or something like that. But that's going to be the challenge for Belichick."
"Do I take the biggest pot of money and full power from a lesser team, or do I take a little bit less from a team that's going to let me fulfill my competitive football objectives?"

At this stage, it seems as if Belichick would chase another run at a Super Bowl, but money does talk.

Will Bill Belichick's success carry into his next team?

We all know the success Bill Belichick had with the New England Patriots. He helped New England win six Super Bowls, 14 divisional titles, and made them one of the best franchises in the NFL.

Of course a large part of their success was being led on the field by quarterback Tom Brady. Without Brady, he's 84-103 as a head coach.

While Bill Belichick has yet to replicate the same success without Brady, he's still one of the greatest and most-respected coaches of all-time. Maybe he, like the Patriots, needs a change of scenary after Brady's exit a few years ago.
