Tua Tagovailoa has been everything the Miami Dolphins hoped he'd be this season. He's led the Dolphins to first place in the AFC East and has improved since last season as a leader and a player.

During the Dolphins' victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, head coach Mike McDaniel pulled Tagovailoa aside and joked about his high school tape, saying his technique was trash.

McDaniel said:

"I woke up at like 3 and I couldn't go back to sleep, so I was thinking about when you hit me randomly hit me up that you were YouTubing me, so I YouTubed you and saw this Trent Dilfer thing showing all this high school sh** from you, and bro, your technique was trash. You know what I mean? Thank god for Bev."

Tagovailoa laughed and asked if he had no rhythm and no timing, and McDaniel responded by saying he looked stressed.

"It was cool though, cause you could see little elements of like your swag But yeah, you were stressed out."

Tagovailoa was a four-star recruit during the 2017 recruiting cycle and the top-ranked high school prospect coming out of Hawaii.

He has thrown for 2,564 yards, 19 touchdowns, and three interceptions and has a passer rating of 115.7. He currently has a career-high 69.7 percent.

This is big for Tagovailoa because he's stepped up his performance this season and answered questions about whether or not he is a franchise quarterback.

In his first two seasons, he went 13-8 as the starting quarterback, throwing 27 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and 4,467 yards in 21 games.

While his numbers weren't bad, many questioned if he could lead the Dolphins as their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. With the year he's having, he will be in prime condition to get a significant contract extension from the Dolphins. He will be under contract with the team next season before the team can pick up its fifth-year option in 2024.
