Steelers fans were furious with their head coach Mike Tomlin after Lamar Jackson led the Ravens to the AFC North title with a win over the Browns. This means that Pittsburgh has yet to win the division since they last did it in 2020.

The Pittsburgh head coach has failed to lead his charges to a home-field advantage in the playoffs since Ben Roethlisberger's retirement and many would say this was the best year to break the streak. At one point, they had a 10-3 record but three straight losses saw them surrender the initiative to Baltimore.

It also effectively made their final game against the Bengals meaningless. True, a win would have locked up the fifth seed, whereas a loss coupled with a Chargers win would see them fall to sixth, but in the grand scheme of things, they still have to go on the road in the Wild Card round.

Fans were furious with how Mike Tomlin approached the final few weeks of the Steelers' 2024 season and how the Ravens pipped their to the AFC North top seed. They took to X/Twitter to express their opinions. Here are some of the comments from the social media platform.

Many called the team and the head coach chokers for blowing a two-game lead over the Ravens to lose the division even before they played their final game. Here are some more posts.

"Well it’s about to be yet another choke job by Mike Tomlin. 2 game lead in the division and couldn’t get it done. Still haven’t looked like a contender for a complete season since Big Ben retired. Almost like nothing matters unless you have a superstar QB to win you games." - noted one.
"Can’t believe the Steelers blew the AFC North title." - added one incredulously.
"We really had the lead in the AFC North with just a couple games left, and Mike Tomlin blew it in December. Again." - fumed a third.

Lamar Jackson's Ravens could host Mike Tomlin's Steelers in Wild Card round

With the Ravens' win, the Steelers will either finish fifth or sixth in the AFC. They have a 10-6 record, which is the same as the Chargers. If Pittsburgh wins their Week 18 match against the Bengals, they will finish as the top team among the Wild Card qualifiers. However, if they lose and Los Angeles picks up a victory in their Week 18 matchup, Mike Tomlin's team will be the sixth seed.

Since the third seed hosts the sixth seed in the Wild Card round, it will mean that the Steelers will have to travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens.
