Mike Vrabel highlights potential reason why Bill Belichick failed to land HC job in 2024 cycle

Wild Card Round - Tennessee Titans v New England Patriots
Mike Vrabel gave some insight as to why his former head coach Bill Belichick wasn't hired by any other teams.

After the 2023 NFL season, both Mike Vrabel and Bill Belichick were fired as head coaches in the NFL. While Vrabel has been hired by the Cleveland Browns as a coaching and personnel consultant, Belichick remains without one.

On the "Pardon My Take" podcast this week, Vrabel was asked if he was surprised that Belichick wasn't hired this past offseason. The former head coach said that although Belichick had tremendous success with the New England Patriots for two decades, it doesn't guarantee that he will be able to do that elsewhere.

“I don’t think many people know Bill," Vrabel said. "He’s been in New England forever. I don’t know how those interactions went but there’s certainly a connection that has to be made.
"They have to see it and say this is the person that’s gonna lead our team to a championship. Not that he did it in New England and it’s automatically gonna work. There’s a lot of fit to it." (1:22:23).

He suggested that perhaps Bill Belichick wasn't the type of coach that NFL teams were looking for heading into 2024:

“Maybe it wasn’t the right fit.”

Mike Vrabel, a former linebacker for the New England Patriots who played for Bill Belichick from 2001 until 2008, emphasized that Belichick has a great knowledge of the game. He feels that knowledge will help him as he embarks on his next chapter in media with ESPN and Omaha Productions.

Mike Vrabel shared his own jokes about Tom Brady despite missing Netflix roast

During his appearance on "Pardon My Take", Mike Vrabel was also asked about the infamous Tom Brady roast special that aired on Netflix in May. He said that, although he wasn't in attendance, he watched some of it and was then asked what he would have said if he had attended the roast.

"The roast was funny," Vrabel said. "The funny parts. I didn’t sit there for three hours, but there was some funny stuff. There’s a lot of stuff left in there that we could’ve done. I like to age gracefully. I got wrinkles, crows feet, scars. There’s just a polish and shine on that face of his right now. He’s like airbrushed." (Time Stamp - 1:20:51)

Mike Vrabel hinted that Tom Brady isn't allowing himself to get wrinkles and crow's feet as many people do when they hit their 40s.
