Mike Vrabel could be turning into one of the heavyweight options of the 2025 coach hiring cycle. The former Tennessee Titans head coach worked with the Cleveland Browns in a smaller role in 2024, but that hasn't stopped teams from calling.

In total, Vrabel appears to have three teams showing interest, including the New York Jets. Vrabel interviewed with the Jets earlier this week and the meeting went "very, very well," an unnamed source told Dianna Russini, per her report in The Athletic on Saturday.

It is worth noting that as well as the meeting is said to have gone, nothing has been agreed just yet. Vrabel also is expected to meet with the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. As such, the Jets have no guarantees on the coach, but it appears that they were at least not outright disgusted by him, keeping him in the mix.

According to CBS Sports, Rex Ryan, Ron Rivera, Jeff Ulbrich, and Mike Vrabel all have a shot at the job. Ryan and Rivera have been in media and would be transitioning back into the league, should they get the job. Ulbrich has acted as the team's interim head coach for much of the 2024 season.

Exploring what Mike Vrabel's addition could signal for Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers might be waiting more eagerly than anyone to find out who the Jets select as their next head coach. If they go with Mike Vrabel, there logically seems to be a high probability that Rodgers would stick around for another season.

Vrabel proved that he could not develop rookie Will Levis, so adding Vrabel to the Jets with the expectation of him developing a high-end rookie quarterback does not appear to be the optimal move. This issue is compounded by the relatively limited QB options expected in the 2025 NFL draft.

As such, adding Vrabel, a veteran coach who has mostly coached veteran quarterbacks in his NFL career, signals that either Rodgers or another veteran would be added. With Rodgers already on the team and under contract for 2025, he appears the safe choice.
