Mike Zimmer has been around the NFL for decades as a defensive coordinator and head coach. The 66-year-old has two children: son Adam and daughter Corri. He started out in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1994-1995 season as an assistant coach. He later became the Cowboys defensive backs coach, holding that position for the next four seasons with the team.
In the 2000-2001 season, he became the team's defensive coordinator. He held that role for the Cowboys until the 2006 -2007 season. He spent the 2007 -2008 season with the Atlanta Falcons as their defensive coordinator. After a season with Atlanta, the coach found himself with the Cincinnati Bengals as the defensive coordinator under then-head coach Marvin Lewis.
The longtime defensive coordinator finally got his first head coaching job when the Minnesota Vikings hired him in Jan. 2014. Under Zimmer, Minnesota made the playoffs three times, including in the 2019-2020 season. Overall, he had a record of 72-56-1 in eight seasons with the franchise. The Vikings fired the head coach on Jan. 2022.
The former NFL head coach is currently an analyst for head coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State University. Both were together as he was Sanders' defensive backs coach with the Cowboys.

What happended to Zimmer's son, Adam?
Sadly, the former Vikings head coach's only son, Adam, passed away at the age of 38. Adam started his coaching career in 2006, with the New Orleans Saints. He spent four seasons with the Saints as assistant linebackers coach, followed by three with the Kansas City Chiefs in that same role. He was on the Bengals coaching staff as an offensive analyst this season.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the Zimmer family for their loss.
