Jayden Daniels has been in "Rookie of the Year" conversations since the start of the season. Then, he seemed to go through a mid-season slump when he and the Washington Commanders lost three games in a row. Post that, the Commanders witnessed a surge, going on to win the next four games.
After their latest win against the Atlanta Falcons, Daniels is again being talked about as the frontrunner. And this time, he's being compared to last year's ROTY, Houston Texans' QB, CJ Stroud. What's more, sportswriter Danny Parkins said that Daniels is having an even better rookie season than the reigning ROTY.
"What Jayden Daniels is doing is, honestly, it's more impressive than what CJ Stroud did last year. Like, this is one of the truly great rookie quarterback seasons we've seen from like what the commanders were to what he's turned them into," Parkins said of Jayden Daniels.

Parkins added why he thought that was the case. Daniels hasn't thrown an incomplete pass in the fourth down the entire season. The Commanders have been the "best fourth down team" in the NFL since 2018, and the rookie QB has kept up the team's standard.
"A rookie quarterback being asked to do that in those spots and delivering 100% of the time - it just gives them a very high ceiling, because clearly, they trust him to execute in any situation," Parkins said.
Jayden Daniels' mom reacted to him breaking RGIII's record
During the last game, the Commanders just didn't win over the Falcons, but also clinched a playoff spot. And the cherry on top of the cake? Jayden Daniels broke Robert Griffin's record of the QB with the most rushing yards in his rookie season. Griffin himself played for the Washington team then.
RGIII had recorded 815 yards, whereas Daniels broke the record with 864 rushing yards to his name, and he has one more game to go. Griffin took to X (formerly, Twitter) to celebrate Daniels' achievement.
"I wanted Jayden Daniels to break my rookie rushing record because I’m not about rooting against the next generation. He EARNED IT. He is the FUTURE," RGIII wrote on X.
His mom, Regina Jackson, also reacted to the news with one word.
"Blessed."
The Commanders last made it to the playoffs in 2020, but haven't won a playoff game since 2015. Will Daniels help change that this season?
