Myles Garrett compared Lamar Jackson to Patrick Mahomes before the Browns' Week 18 game against the Ravens. Cleveland is out of playoff contention, but the star defender has had another productive year. He has notched up 14 sacks and was nominated to his sixth Pro Bowl.

Over the years, Myles Garrett has sacked Lamar Jackson five-and-a-half times, which is a phenomenal record against a quarterback known to scramble out of his pocket and rush. The Browns defender said that those sacks were the hardest of his career by far because the current MVP has speed, shiftiness, running ability, and a great contact balance. Also paying homage to the Ravens' star's passing ability this season, the Cleveland player said:

“Absolutely [the five-and-a-half sacks being his toughest]. It’s not even close. There are definitely some other special cats at the quarterback position who are shifty.
"I mean, Pat [Patrick Mahomes] himself, he has great contact balance, but, I mean, Lamar has that. But he also has speed, he has quickness, is shifty, so he has that tremendous running ability, and he can also throw the ball pretty much anyone on the field right now.”

Myles Garrett focused on dashing Lamar Jackson's playoff hopes rather than personal records

In the same interview, Myles Garrett was asked if he was targeting getting the sack title this year. It would be the first time the defender has won it if it comes to pass. He is currently tied with Trey Hendrickson on 14 sacks each.

However, the Browns star said that he wants to defeat the Ravens so that the Steelers then have the chance to win the AFC North and Baltimore has to go on the road in the Wild Card round.

“I mean, I’d rather upset them and mess up their playoff hopes. And if the sack title comes along with that, great. Definitely going to do what I can to be disruptive and take eight [Lamar Jackson] out of the game as much as possible. If that comes along with it, outstanding. But at the end of the day, I want to win," Garrett said.

Winning has not come easily for the Browns this year, and the Cleveland star is now reduced to hoping that his team can spoil Lamar Jackson's playoff hopes. When the season began, there was hope that the Browns might be in playoff conversation as they had a great defense and Deshaun Watson was returning from injury as the starting quarterback.

However, Cleveland's offense never delivered on that promise despite having a star like Myles Garrett on defense.
