Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has yet to be apprehended on domestic violence charges

The Tampa Police Department issued an arrest warrant for former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on December 1, 2022. Now, two weeks later, he is yet to be apprehended by police and is allegedly still at his home in Tampa, Florida.

Police have made several attempts to contact the former wide receiver and were said to have had his home under surveillance. While it was known that he was still inside the home, he shocked many when he took to his Snapchat account and posted photos with a female.

The speculation around who the woman was made the media rounds for days. It was interesting that Brown was wanted by the police and people were apparently coming and going from his house all the while.

Sports Illustrated reached out to legal analyst Amy Dash. She said that although an arrest warrant was issued, the police didn't have the right to force entry. She also said that because he is on his property, he is allowed to have guests come and go and nothing can be done about it.

"Police say Brown’s lady friend is free to come and go as she pleases as are any other visitors he may want to have. Brown is in his home and on his property and police basically have their hands tied instead of the other way around."

As of now, it appears that there is a deadlock between the former wide receiver and the police. Things seem set to remain that way unless a resolution can be reached soon.

What is Antonio Brown accused of?

On November 28, 2022, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown allegedly had a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend (who is also the mother of three of his children). He threw her belongings out of the house and while doing so, she was hit with a shoe. According to court documents, he also threatened to shoot her and is in possession of weapons.

On December 1, 2022, the Tampa Police Department issued an arrest warrant on domestic violence charges. This came a day after TPD asked a judge to certify a warrant that would have allowed the authorities to remove all weapons from his possession. This is part of the state of Florida's 'red flag law'. If police feel someone is a threat to others or themselves, weapons can be removed from their possession.

Late last week, it was stated that Antonio Brown's accuser had asked for the charges to be dropped, however, that hasn't yet happened.
