Aaron Rodgers' personal ayahuasca journey was a massive talking point for the quarterback when it was revealed he took psychadelic drugs during a vacation. He has gone as far as crediting his success in the early 2020's to the drug. However, a recent study released has cast a direct challenge to this assertion.

According to the Daily Mail, a study has been released that suggests that the adverse effects could be damaging for users. In a global study of 10,000 people, researchers found that around half of users of the drug reported negative health effects. These include hallucinations, and about 20 percent said they suffered disturbing thoughts and nightmares, or felt disconnected.

Half of people reported that the effects stuck with them for not just one day. According to them, the effects persisted for days or months. After injesting the herbal tea, 70 percent of users reported experiencing at least one uncomfortable effect, be it vomiting, nausea, headache, or abdominal pain. Four percent of users experienced severe effects such as seizures, respiratory arrest, and cardiac arrest.

In other words, although Aaron Rodgers has claimed that the herbal tea led to success, this study suggests otherwise. In fact, he had a four percent chance of potentially life-threatening consequences.

What drug did Aaron Rodgers take?

The Green Bay Packers superstar took ayahuasca. This is a psychedelic substance banned in the US. The drug is usually taken in South America as that is where it naturally occurs. Ayahuasca is a powerful psychedelic and users experience prolonged hallucinations.

Often users experience powerful epithanies on a spiritual level while they are under the influence of ayahuasca. People report great moments of realization and sometimes return to their daily lives with a new sense of purpose or a sense of internal clarity.

Some may joke that the quarterback may have been sampling the narcotic before the fourth quarter, as he missed several wide-open receivers. This came during the most critical part of the game. After going down 14-6 at the half to the Tennessee Titans, the Packers fought back to make the game 20-17.

The Titans scored again to make it 27-17, placing pressure on the quarterback to make another comeback. Instead, the offense hit a brick wall. Receivers were breaking open, but Aaron Rodgers could not accurately deliver the ball. Just days after delivering a win over the Dallas Cowboys, the team fell back into their slow offensive ways against the Titans. Rodgers' break from being on a losing streak lasted four days.

We will see if the Packers can save their season in the coming weeks. Another loss would feel like one too many, but in the NFL strange things do happen.
