On Sunday, the New York Giants traveled to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in a game where both teams were looking to bounce back from a tough loss in Week 4.

The visitors suffered a gut-wrenching 20-15 loss to division rivals Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football and fell to 1-3. They sit at the foot of the division standings and desperately needed a win against the Seahawks to keep their fast-diminishing playoff hopes alive.

However, their odds of winning took a massive blow even before they got on the flight to Seattle as standout rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers couldn't recover from the concussion he suffered in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Cowboys and was ruled out for the game.

The Seahawks were on the receiving end of a Jared Goff masterclass on Monday Night Football last week. The Detroit Lions quarterback completed all 18 pass attempts for 292 yards and two touchdowns in a historic performance.

New York Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks summary

The Giants got off to a spectacular start as their defense got the Seahawks offense off the field after giving up only 25 yards. Daniel Jones and Co. embarked on a slow drive and took 15 plays to go 78 yards and found themselves a yard away from the endzone.

They entrusted Eric Gray with the responsibility of punching the ball in. However, the running back fumbled the ball into the endzone, and Seahawks safety Rayshawn Jenkins picked it up and went 101 yards the other way to open the scoring.

The teams exchanged punts on the subsequent two drives before the Giants offense found their groove again and drove the ball 73 yards in eight plays. Jones capped off the stellar drive with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson which leveled the scores.

New York's defense continued to stifle Seattle's offense and forced them to punt for the third straight drive. The Giants' offense continued to feast and embarked on another comfortable drive.

On a 3rd-and-2 play at the Seahawks' 22-yard line, Jones tried to find Robinson to move the chains, but the duo couldn't connect again. Head coach Brian Daboll made a pragmatic call and kicked the field goal to see him take a three-point lead.

However, he'd end up regretting that decision as the Seahawks got the ball back with 25 seconds left and managed to gain 45 yards in four plays against soft coverage to set up a 43-yard field goal attempt for kicker Jason Myers, which he converted with ease to level the scores.

The Giants opened the second half with a three-and-out and punted the ball back to the Seahawks, who got off to the perfect start, as Geno Smith and Tyler Lockett combined for a 33-yard pass. However, only two plays later, wide receiver DK Metcalf fumbled a pass and bailed out New York's defense.

The Giants capitalized on the error as Jones found Darius Slayton twice on the drive: first on a 26-yard pass and then a 30-yard bomb in the endzone to put the visitors back on top.

Seattle responded with a field goal, but New York fired back with one of their own to retain its seven-point lead. On the subsequent drive, the Seahawks made the perplexing decision to go for it on 4th-and-1 on their 24-yard line and paid the price, as Brian Burns sacked Smith to give his team terrific field position on their drive.

The Giants couldn't capitalize on it and settled for a field goal to take a 10-point lead. After exchanging punts in the next two drives, New York decided to play soft coverage, and the struggling Seattle offense punished them and went 95 yards in 15 plays to set up a 1st-and-goal at the five-yard line.

Smith tried to find Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the endzone but couldn't connect with the wide receiver. He targeted him again on the next play and this time they executed the play call to perfection to cut the Giants' lead to three.

The Giants went three-and-out on their next drive, giving the home side the opportunity to either win the game with a touchdown or tie it with a field goal. On the first play of the Seahawks' drive, Smith scrambled for 32 yards to put his team in the perfect position.

They gained only six yards in the next three plays and decided to try the game-tying field goal. However, New York's special teams blocked the kick before returning it for a touchdown to virtually end the game.

In the game's penultimate drive, the Giants' defense sacked Smith twice as the Seahawks turned the ball over on downs and Jones kneeled the clock out to secure the win for the visitors.
