Earlier this week, the New York Giants announced that they were benching quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of their Week 12 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and starting Tommy DeVito under center. The team relegated Jones to the emergency quarterback role and was expected to cut ties with the former first-round pick in the offseason, two years after they handed him a $160 million contract extension.
However, things escalated quickly as the six-year veteran asked the team to release him immediately. Owner John Mara revealed the franchise was more than willing to accommodate his request, and five days after he was benched, Jones' six-season stint with the Giants was over.
The quarterback is hunting for a job and several teams could add him to their ranks, give him a chance to prove he can lead the offense, and offer him a long-term deal in the offseason. However, several fans, analysts, and New York Jets punter Thomas Morstead want the Giants' divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, to sign the quarterback. In a post on X, Aaron Rodgers' teammate wrote:

"Would love to see Cowboys sign Daniel Jones to play Giants on Thanksgiving Day!"
With Dak Prescott out for the season with a hamstring injury and neither Cooper Rush nor Trey Lance impressing in his absence, signing the former Giants star could be a worthwhile punt for the Cowboys.
It'd also be a gut punch to New York if Dallas signed the quarterback it cut midway through a season and lost to him starting under center in a primetime game. The prospect is tantalizing, but seemingly of no interest to the Cowboys.
Daniel Jones to Cowboys: Stephen Jones addresses rumors
During a telephonic interview with 94.1 San Antonio's Sports Star radio show, Stephen Jones, the Dallas Cowboys executive vice president, was asked whether the franchise was considering signing Daniel Jones for the rest of the season. He responded:
"No, I think we’re in good shape at our quarterback spot. We think Cooper (Rush) gives us the best chance to win right now. And certainly we still want to see some."
Unfortunately for Thomas Morstead and the hordes of fans who hoped the Cowboys would sign Jones and field him against the Giants, it's unlikely that their wish would come true.
There's a small chance that the Cowboys EVP was keeping his cards close to his chest and didn't want any team to know they were interested in signing the former Giants star. However, the more likely scenario is that Dallas isn't interested in adding him to its ranks, despite how intriguing it could be.
