Back in 1988, Herschel Walker was one of the biggest stars of the Dallas Cowboys. However, the running back who earned 1,500 yards the previous campaign was moved during the 1989 season. Many believe that trade, which turned the league on its head 35 years ago, gave birth to the Cowboys of the 1990s.

Speaking on a Tuesday's edition of "Get Up," NFL analyst Mike Greenberg called for history to repeat itself.

"The Dallas Cowboys should trade Micah Parsons," Greenberg said (02:06). "I'm old enough to remember when they traded Herschel Walker. They got back a king's ransom. Jimmy Johnson built that into a dynasty."

Parsons has seen his fair share of criticism from the "Get Up" team this season. From certain guests calling for the pass rusher to become more of a leader in the locker room, to criticism levied at the team as a whole, this recommendation pushes things to a new level.

Of course, implied in his comments was the understanding that Parsons has immense trade value. Parsons has earned double-digit sacks every season from 2021-2023.

The Dallas star of the late 1980s was sacrificed for the greater good of the team. According to NFL media, the trade led to the Cowboys acquiring Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson and Russell Maryland.

In total, Walker was traded for three first-round and three second-round picks, which gave the 1-15 Cowboys a massive headstart in its rebuild.

If Micah Parsons is traded, expecting the same haul would be somewhat of a stretch thanks to his ongoing injury troubles this season. However, if there's a team desperate for a pass rusher, getting a haul close to 50% of what they received more than three decades ago would still set up the team for a rebound in 2025.

While it might be a hair too soon to call it quits for the team at 3-5, the trade deadline offers no extensions. At this point, Jerry Jones needs to make a judgment call on a Dak Prescott-less team under .500.
