Dan Quinn and Tom Brady are both in different places now. However, two of the biggest names from the 28-3 Super Bowl comeback at the end of the 2016-2017 season are back in their primes after a quiet period. For Quinn in his first season as a head coach since leaving the Matt Ryan-era Falcons, he is on the doorstep of getting back to the Big Game.
Brady, of course, is back in the spotlight, commentating for some of the games leading up to the 2024-25 Super Bowl. However, while Brady has already benefitted immensely from the win, NFL analyst Kyle Brandt argued on Tuesday on "Good Morning Football" that the meltdown was 'almost a positive' for Dan Quinn's career.
Kyle Brandt: [00:01:19] "I don't think there is a plug-and-play Dan Quinn out there. Find me another coach who has a historic meltdown in the Super Bowl that would break most coaches and most human beings. And the next year has that team back in the divisional round of the playoffs," he said.

"I am almost at this point, we're so far removed from 28 to 3. I almost am looking at it as a positive for Dan Quinn because I'm so impressed that he recovered from it. It's incredible," he added. [00:01:42][23.7] GMFB
If nothing else, Quinn's story has become one of redemption. Many thought that losing Super Bowl 51 to Tom Brady's Patriots would be his last chance in the Big Game. Now, he's back to within one win of getting back there with only Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles standing in his way.
Dan Quinn eyes potential showdown with 2024-25's version of Tom Brady
Of course, while Quinn won't have to deal with Tom Brady should he get to the Super Bowl again, he might be facing the next biggest name: Patrick Mahomes. Of course, while Mahomes still needs to get through Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills, the chance to face him comes down to a coin flip compared to 16 total AFC contenders at the beginning of the season.
Patrick Mahomes also has three second-half comebacks under his belt, assuring that no lead is safe for Quinn should he get to the Super Bowl and get a lead in the game.
Mahomes erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to win his first Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers. He also erased a 10-point second-half deficit to the Philadelphia Eagles to win his second championship. Moreover, his third championship after he erased a seven-point second-half lead.
Two of those wins came against Kyle Shanahan, who was part of Dan Quinn's staff when he lost the famous 28-3 Super Bowl to Tom Brady's Patriots. Put simply, no lead will be safe if Quinn gets into the luxurious position heading into the second half over Mahomes.
However, will he get through Jalen Hurts first?
