Dak Prescott hasn't played in a football game since January, but he appears to have suffered a minor injury in that time. Various reports claim the quarterback suffered a minor ankle injury while fishing and wore a walking boot for a time. However, it appears that the boot has since been removed.

With a contract negotiation ongoing with the Cowboys, fans are wondering if any new leg injuries could be enough of a reminder of his fateful 2021 season-ending injury to slow down talks further. Speaking on First Take on Friday, analyst Courtney Cronin gave her take.

Courtney Cronin: "[00:02:27] He's played this right the entire time and maybe it's something that if you're in the front office in Dallas, you're like, 'okay, how severe is this? Is it an issue?' But I don't think this is something that's going to change the trajectory and the timing of getting him paid. [00:02:40]," she said. [13.3] First Take

Of course, with fishing proving to be an injury-risking endeavor for the nearly age-31 Prescott, some fans are nervous about his health. It appears that he is back to 100%, but if fishing can cause an injury to him, will his body hold up in the 2024 football season?

The quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys sent up red flags for some fans upon news breaking of his minor ankle injury. Dak Prescott has since responded to those speculating about the fallout. In a post on Twitter/X by Clarence Hill Jr. on July 5, Prescott claimed people were "reaching."

“People be reaching be man," Prescott said.

Hill, a Dallas Cowboys reporter, also reported that the quarterback had been doing normal maintenance on his ankle due to an injury he had suffered to it in 2020. He also reported that the boot was merely "precautionary."

Of course, the underlying takeaway from the reports is that Prescott appears to have never fully recovered from his 2020 ankle injury. This proves that with some injuries, the player never fully recovers.

That said, from a production standpoint, the ankle hasn't appeared to hinder the quarterback since. In 2023, he threw for a league-leading 36 touchdown passes and led his team to a division win.

Will it take a similar performance in 2024 to quiet the ankle speculation?
