On Friday, reports claimed that Jaylen Watson was being taken off the Kansas City Chiefs' injured reserve list ahead of an important run. When FS1 analyst Nick Wright read the latest news on Watson's ankle injury update, he tweeted about the cornerback's importance for the Chiefs, who are chasing a historic three-peat of Super Bowls in February.
"Could legitimately be the biggest news of the season. When Jaylen Watson plays over the past 2 years, KC has the best defense in the NFL, hands down," Wright wrote.
The Chiefs (15-1) will end their regular season by traveling to face the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Kansas City has already sealed the No. 1 seed in the AFC, which means coach Andy Reid could rest some of his key players for the Week 18 game. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and a few others could get a rest before the playoffs.

By finishing as the top seed in the conference, Kansas City has also automatically qualified for the divisional round, without having to play a wild-card game. This gives Watson an extra break to recover and get up to speed for the postseason.
Jaylen Watson injury update: What happened to Chiefs CB?
On Friday, Kansas City designated cornerback Jaylen Watson to return from injured reserve. The cornerback injured his ankle in the Chiefs' 28-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7 and hasn't played since.
Initial reports claimed that Watson would miss the rest of the season due to a broken tibia-fibula. However, the cornerback has made a speedy recovery after surgery to boost the Chiefs' defense at an important stage of the season.
Before his injury, Watson recorded 32 tackles (21 solo), 1.5 stuffs, and six passes defended in six games. The Chiefs won all of their six games with Watson marshalling the rearguard.
The Chiefs selected Watson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft. He helped Kansas City win the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024. The cornerback will aim to help his team on its three-peat quest in the playoffs.
