There's no denying that Bill Belichick is one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history. He won six Super Bowl rings in nine appearances during his time with the New England Patriots. Both totals are the most in NFL history. He is also just 19 wins shy of setting the all-time record for most total wins, including in the NFL playoffs, chasing Don Shula's epic 347 wins.
While 19 wins is likely out of reach for Belichick during the 2023 NFL season, unless he makes another Super Bowl run this year, he will likely surpass Shula at some point in the next two years. In a shocking recent report, rumors have begun to swirl that Belichick could potentially be fired by owner Robert Kraft as soon as he sets the record.
Dianna Russini recently appeared on an episode of "Get Up" to discuss the situation:
"There's some chatter at the league meetings last week in Arizona, after Robert Kraft had spoken and some people heard that, those people being reporters, other coaches, teams around the league. And I think when you say it out loud, you almost call yourself out like this is crazy. Bill Belichick gone? No way.

"And you know, when you start digging in on it and you start thinking about it more, we know that Robert Kraft, I think, has been in support of Bill Belichick breaking the record of Don Shula's wins. Most wins."
She continued:
"But you know, Kraft had a line there when he spoke to the media that, you know, it's kind of like when when players have goals that they want to achieve. You can't always put that into consideration.
"Belichick is 19 wins away from breaking that record. So that's still there. That could be quite the season if they're able to do that. But that being said, I don't get this sense that they're going to part ways."
It was recently reported that the relationship between head coach Bill Belichick and young quarterback Mac Jones has taken a turn for the worse. This could possibly have something to do with Robert Kraft's rumored speculation of moving on from Belichick. He has also missed the playoffs in two of the three seasons since Tom Brady departed, so that could also play a factor.
How long has Bill Belichick been the head coach of the New England Patriots?
Bill Belichick was acquired by Robert Kraft to take over as the head coach of the New England Patriots prior to the start of the 2000 NFL season. In addition to his six Super Bowl rings and nine AFC Conference Championships, Belichick has also won 17 AFC East division titles. He has incredibly accounted for a winning record of 20 out of 23 seasons with the team entering the 2023 NFL season.
