Sean McVay has been one of the most consistently successful coaches in the entire NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. In seven seasons in his current position, he has helped the franchise reach the Super Bowl twice, winning a ring in one. He has also made five appearances in the playoffs and has only one season with a losing record.
Despite his massive success, as well as still being one of the league's youngest head coaches, McVay has been involved in many retirement rumors in recent years. According to Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire with USA Today, those rumors should be put on hold. He used a recent quote from McVay in an interview with J.B. Long and D'Marco Farr to justify his point.
"You know what's cool? Being around this group, and especially even last year, it feels like it's Year 1 again, and I really mean that," McVay was quoted as saying.
DaSilva responded:

"If this is Year 1 for him, perhaps he has the motivation to coach longer than some fans anticipated. After flirting with the possibility of stepping down following the 2021 and 2022 seasons, McVay is certainly back on the horse and feeling rejuvenated entering Year 8."
After going all in to win a Super Bowl a few years ago, including trading away many of their draft picks for veteran stars like Matthew Stafford, the Rams appeared to be on their way to a long and grueling rebuild. They instead exceeded their expectations during the 2023 season by making it to the playoffs.
DaSilva apparently believes that run could have helped change McVay's mindset on his potential retirement.
Sean McVay's contract supports theory that he is committed to the Rams
Sean McVay has been rumored to be contemplating retirement over the past few years with the Los Angeles Rams. He was involved in several rumors connecting him with potential broadcasting jobs as a possible new career path following his successful run as an NFL head coach.
Those rumors never came true, and after signing a contract extension before the 2022 season, he appears to be committed to his current role. His most recent deal runs until the conclusion of the 2026 season. This matches the same timeline as general manager Les Snead, so the Rams' leadership appears to be locked in together.
