As a commentator, Tom Brady will be one many analysts, pundits, and experts chose to vote on the annual NFL AP awards. The former quarterback will have a role in selecting the NFL-endorsed AP awards.
Awards like MVP, Coach of the Year, and others will run partially through Tom Brady this year, and one analyst is not happy about it. Speaking on a December 27 edition of "Pro Football Talk," NFL analyst Mike Florio expressed a problem he had with minority Raiders owner Tom Brady voting on players that work for him.
Mike Florio: [00:01:07] "It's amazing to me that... no one's doing anything about it. ... NFL had no comment. And then the comment was, 'we don't have anything to do with that.' ... We have nothing to do with the making of this sausage that is our sausage that we'd like you to eat. But we didn't make it. ... We don't vouch for it, but please enjoy it. That's what they're doing," he said.

"It's ridiculous. And it's ridiculous that Brady would want to do it. It's ridiculous that the Raiders will let him do it. It's ridiculous that the AP is letting them do it and it's ridiculous that the league is letting him do it," he added. [00:02:08][61.2] PFT
Tom Brady, a commentator for FOX, owns 5% of the Las Vegas Raiders, per CBS News. The stake hasn't stopped him from voting in the awards, but it has made it impossible for the quarterback to return unless he sells the stake.
Budding Raiders star up for consideration as Tom Brady prepares to cast first AP vote
Florio's comments come as many believe Raiders tight end Brock Bowers to be a darkhorse Rookie of the Year contender. If that is the case and Bowers ends up on the ballot, Brady will have a chance to vote for his own player.
Bowers was selected 13th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Raiders, who many believe would have selected a quarterback had the correct one fell to them. However, no quarterbacks fell that the Las Vegas Raiders desired, so they went with Bowers. Bowers' early selection was not a surprise for many who had followed college or the leadup to the NFL Draft.
However, most would agree his ability to claw past almost every other rookie to be one of the biggest non-quarterback names for Rookie of the Year is a notable accomplishment. That said, with Brady casting just one vote, it might take a lot for the former quarterback to whip up enough votes to make him the Rookie of the Year.
That said, some may argue that Bowers receiving the award could hurt Brady in the long-run if the award goes to Bowers' head. Either way, the former New England Patriots quarterback will have a say in how much recognition Bowers gets for his breakout 1000-yard season.
