Any sort of optimism for a New York Jets resurgence is currently not in NFL analyst Kyle Brandt's realm of possibilities.

Speaking on "Good Morning Football," he straightaway dismissed owner Woody Johnson's lofty ambitions to revitalize the team by 2025.

"I would also love to give you a message of hope especially on a day when the Bears hire a new coach and maybe the Jets will as well, and maybe you will," Brandt began.

He continued:

"But don't, in my opinion, look at Washington and say we can also do that. Not like that. You can't. You may find a way, but you're not going to have a new owner. You're not going to have Jayden Daniels, and you're probably not going to have Dan Quinn. So look elsewhere. … You can't do that."

In 2024, the New York Jets’ season was full of injuries and problems. Woody Johnson, who has led the franchise for 25 years, is now facing heavy criticism.

After firing head coach Robert Saleh in October and general manager Joe Douglas in November, all eyes are now on Johnson to fix the team. Moreover, fans are losing faith in quick fixes like Aaron Rodgers. Unlike a young rookie quarterback with potential, Rodgers feels like a temporary solution.

Can the Jets mirror Washington’s successful rebuild as rightly pointed out by NFL analyst Kyle Brandt?

The New York Jets’ problems go beyond coaching or roster changes. The team lacks strong foundational talent and structure. Thus, it would be tough for the Jets to pull off a turnaround like the Washington Commanders.

Their direction took a complete turn by changing ownership, hiring key personnel, and drafting a standout quarterback.

Josh Harris bought the team in July 2023. After which, he hired general manager Adam Peters, and brought in coach Dan Quinn.

Next, they signed veteran leaders and drafted LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Commanders wrapped up the regular season in 2024 with a 12-5 record. More recently, the team won against the Detroit Lions in the divisional round. Next up, they will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Similarly, New York wants to turn things around for them. They are already on the lookout for an HC and a GM. As per the latest reports, Aaron Glenn is a potential head coach candidate and Lance Newmark is a possible GM. While these moves are good, the road ahead is quite steep for Woody Johnson.
