The New Orleans Saints are on the hunt for a new head coach after parting ways with Dennis Allen in Week 9 of the season. Darren Rizzi served as the interim head coach but, it appears New Orleans will begin a search for their next head coach.

NFL Network's Jane Slater reported on Monday morning that David Shaw is on the list of potential candidates and will have an interview in the near future. Shaw was the head coach for the Stanford Cardinal for 12 years, coaching quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Davis Mills during their collegiate careers.

"Two sources informed tells me the #Saints are gonna interview David Shaw for their HC position. Shaw is currently a senior personnel executive for the Denver Broncos. Shaw was the HC at Stanford for 12 years and coached QBs like Andrew Luck and Davis Mills. He also has an extensive background in the NFL as Asst HC with Eagles, Ravens and Raiders," NFL Network's Jane Slater reported on Monday morning.

Shaw is currently a senior personnel executive for the Denver Broncos, a position he has held sine June 2024. Before being hired by Stanford, David Shaw worked as an assistant coach in the NFL from 1996 until 2006.

New Orleans parted ways with now former head coach Dennis Allen after he acculumated just a 18-25 record in two and a half seasons.

NFL insider believes Aaron Glenn could become new Saints HC

The New Orleans Saints appear to be doing their due diligence in terms of finding their next head coach. NFL insider Tony Pauline, though, believes that they already have their eyes set on a particular candidate.

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn interviewed for the Tennessee Titans head coaching position last season. There are currently five teams that are in need of a head coach and Glenn is already at the top of a few lists. Pauline believes Glenn's connection to the Saints could make him their obvious pick.

Aaron Glenn played the final season of his 15-year NFL career in New Orleans in 2008. From 2016 until 2020, he was the defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints. The organization is familiar with him which makes him a likely pick.

In January 2021, he was hired by the Detroit Lions as their defensive coordinator which is his current role.
