A month before the 2023 NFL Draft, an arrest warrant was obtained for top prospect Jalen Carter. Reports indicate that Carter was present in a fatal car accident and lied to the police about it. The former Georgia DL allegedly fled the scene, and the accident claimed the lives of team staff member Chandler LeCroy and Carter's national champion teammate Devin Willock.
Carter, who was at the NFL combine in Indianapolis when the arrest warrants were made public, promptly returned to Georgia after leaving the league's scouting gathering.
Carter was booked at 11:33 p.m., according to jail records, just hours after the Athens-Clarke County Police Department issued arrest warrants for his suspected involvement in a car crash that resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

After paying a $4,000 bond, Carter was released from custody barely 16 minutes after being arrested. As per TMZ, a statement released by police on Wednesday morning stated that both Carter and LeCroy "switched between lanes, drove in the center turn lane, and drove in opposite directions of travel" before the collision, with LeCroy reaching speeds of 104 MPH.
Will Jalen Carter be at the NFL Combine 2023?
As per Adam Schefter, Jalen Carter is back at the NFL Combine to continue with his interviews, measurements and other activities. Although the situation around him has become very tricky, multiple teams will still tune in to see how he performs at the combine.
He is still anticipated to be a top-five draft pick, barring the imposition of more charges. If the Chicago Bears trade down in exchange for the first overall pick, they may pursue him if he remains on the board.
