Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford spent the last five months grinding to win the NFC West. They ultimately got their wish, but now it is in danger of getting ripped away due to no fault of their own.
Wildfires currently surround Los Angeles, leaving the city in a difficult situation. There is the risk of the fires spreading, but there also is the risk of compromised air quality. If the situation doesn't line up, the Rams-Vikings game could be moved to Arizona.
Speaking on Thursday's edition of "Pro Football Talk," NFL analyst Mike Florio claimed the team didn't "care" if that would be the result.
"And there's so many unknowns with this," Florio said (11:34). "You got to process. You got to come to grips with it. It's not fair to the Rams. But at this point, I don't think the Rams would care. You've just you've got to do the right thing. You got to do the safe thing. You got to do the smart thing."

Of course, while the health of the players is important, tens of thousands of fans would be impacted by the decision.
Exploring fallout of NFL's backup plan for Matthew Stafford-Sam Darnold showdown
Some made plans to fly and book their stays in the city. Those plans would be severely impacted. Some might be able to pivot, renting a car and driving to Arizona to watch the game. However, others could have their plans and their investments to see the game get ruined.
According to Google Maps, the drive from the Los Angeles Rams' stadium to the Arizona Cardinals' stadium in Glendale, Arizona is about six hours. Of course, for those fans traveling now in need of booking a car to make the drive, there is a risk of the pricing of those rental vehicles increasing under the weight of potentially thousands of new renters.
Of course, for players like Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, it means the team will need to cobble together a travel schedule, lodging, flights or buses, pack their travel kit, and head out to Arizona to await what could end up being a relatively neutral field.
Plus, the state of the field and the stadium are less than guaranteed to be fully ready to take on a spectacle like a playoff game featuring Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold.
This, of course, is what many would argue to be a somewhat minor piece of the fallout of the situation with lives, homes, and businesses at stake, but it is fallout nonetheless affecting Sam Darnold, Stafford, and countless others.
