Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey missed a field goal for the first time this season. Aubrey, who kicked a 60-yard field goal earlier in Thursday's win over the New York Giants, missed a late 51-yard field goal attempt.
NFL fans began accusing the kick of being 'rigged' as the Cowboys won 20-15, a five-point margin when they were favored by 5.5 points. A post on X said Aubrey looked "nonchalant," which left many even more angry.

Some believed that Brandon Aubrey was rushed out onto the field by the Dallas Cowboys and not given enough time to think about making the field goal. Another fan thought he was jinxed when people started mentioning the spread.
"As soon as they mentioned the spread I knew something was going on."-one fan suspected
"We all knew he was gonna miss eventually I’m glad it didn’t mean anything."-said one person on X
"Should've taken a timeout over rushing them on the field for the attempt."-another thought
The suspicions of how and why Brandon Aubrey missed the 51-yard field goal continued in the replies. While it was the first time he missed a field goal this season, it was also the first time he had ever missed a field goal over 50 yards in his NFL career.
"That's why you gotta out think VEGAS."-said another fan
"On top of that: the Cowboys suspiciously didn’t call a timeout either. Teams usually do this to ensure they get every second off the play clock when they have the lead late. The whole operation was weird."-one person questioned
"And they say the Cowboys always cover lol."-joked one fan
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott joked about Brandon Aubrey's missed field goal
If Brandon Aubrey's first missed field goal affected the outcome of the game, the Dallas Cowboys would likely be more concerned about their reliable kicker. In this instance, though, the Cowboys got back to .500 with the 20-15 win over the New York Giants.
After the game, quarterback Dak Prescott joked about Aubrey's missed attempt that perhaps the long-range kicker wasn't challenged enough.
"I think that one was too short for him."-Prescott joked
The former professional soccer player had made 16 consecutive kicks of over 50 yards before this missed attempt. He also broke the Cowboys franchise record with a 65-yard field goal last Sunday, one yard shy of the NFL record.
